It is a growing paradox in Alachua County and is also becoming a national issue: teenage pregnancy. Currently, there is much conversation on the topic of teenage mothers and their increasing numbers.

The Amazing Race
Gainesville, FL – The UF Sigma Chapter of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity Inc.’s 5th Annual Amazing Race occurred Sunday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise awareness about Asian culture and UF Asian-American students’ push for equal resources.
The Amazing Race is a campus-wide obstacle course where teams of four or more run, jump, hop or do whatever it takes to be the first to complete every station to win the race.
The first place winners received $250 dollars in prizes.
Not So Happily Ever After
In May 2002, Yaba Baker was on a business trip in California when he saw a commercial for the Disney Princess product line. Looking at the princess’ faces on the screen, he wondered where the representation was for Black women.
Baker, who was already an author at the time, decided to create Princess Briana, first as a screenplay and then as a book. She is not your normal princess. She is independent, smart and down-to-earth. Instead of sitting around waiting for her prince, she is running a country and challenging conventional beliefs about princesses.
